1. Seeds

It would be wise to start with seeds that are specifically used for microgreens. A list of easy, quick ones are (click on seed for link) :


Arugula (spicy nutty flavour)

Broccoli (mild broccoli flavour)

Watercress (spicy, peppery)

Pea Shoots (Pea flavour)

Kale (nutty like mustard less spicy)

Mustard (mild but mustardy)

Radish (spicy)

2. Container

Any container (with holes on bottom) can be used to grow microgreens. Store bought sprouting trays, Pie plates, Styrofoam takeout containers and produce containers all make good microgreen containers. Use your imagination. The container must have small drainage holes. Make sure the containers are good and clean to start.


3. Growing Medium

You can use all sorts of things as growing medium for microgreens including,

Pick and choose your own favourite. Right now I'm using a mixture of peet moss, wood chips and straw! Sometime you have to play it by ear and use what you have.

4. Spray bottle - You don't want to over water your seeds so a Spray bottle is a MUST!
